1 I chose to read this book at the worst possible time. The artwork is excellent; the illustrator Julia Kuo paints a dark, mysterious yet inviting world for kids and parents alike. Before joining NBC Radio News as an anchor/reporter in the early 70’s and subsequently the National Black Network (NBN) as VP of broadcast operations, there were stints with Seaway and Rollins Broadcasting companies in the Chicago area. I will definitely be recommending this to my 13 year old DAUGHTER who loves adventures and even to my 18 year old nephew, who is still not too old for such imaginings. Joshua and the Magical Forest is a quick and intensive read. Any time spent together between parent and child is special, and in DADDY GOES TO WORK both parents and children alike can see how something as simple as a day at work with a parent, and a parent sharing a side of their life children don't normally see, is indeed a special treat. Representing the mid-majors, everyone I ever met from Temple is a major douchebag.
